At Mountain Valley, we believe exceptional care begins with culture.
Every day, our team members make countless decisions that impact the lives of patients and families. The best healthcare organizations are not built solely on policies, procedures, or checklists—they are built on trust, accountability, compassion, and a shared commitment to doing what is right for the people they serve.
We are excited to share that Jenna Campbell, MSN, RN, CHPN, Chief Clinical Operations Officer at Mountain Valley, has authored a new article published by Swaay.Health titled “Building a Culture of Ownership in Healthcare.”
In the article, Jenna explores the difference between accountability and ownership, the importance of empowering team members to take initiative, and how organizational culture shapes the patient and family experience. Drawing inspiration from The Florence Prescription, she reflects on Mountain Valley’s ongoing commitment to creating a culture where people feel trusted, valued, and empowered to make a difference.
One concept featured in the article has become an important part of Mountain Valley’s culture: See the need, take the lead. Whether caring for patients, supporting families, or helping a teammate, ownership means stepping forward because it is the right thing to do—not because someone is watching.
As Jenna writes, healthcare is ultimately about people. It is about recognizing needs, listening carefully, responding with compassion, and understanding that small actions can profoundly impact someone’s experience during a vulnerable time.
We are grateful to Jenna for sharing her insights and helping advance important conversations about leadership, culture, and patient-centered care.
